I decided to make this site after seeing her two nights in a row during the "Are You Happy Now?" tour. She was amazing both nights. I have seen her a total of four times now and hope to add to that soon.
MIchelle is an absolutely amazing singer/songwriter. I remember sitting in my dorm room and downloading The Spirit Room a couple weeks before it went on sale. I know that is kind of sounds bad, but it happens. I couldn't believe her music when I first heard it. It totally blow me away to think that she could be that good of a songwriter at such a young age. It was especially nice to hear the change from the music of Britney and Christina that was so popular at the time. I remember thinking that there was finally someone who was singing for something other than the money. I give Christina some credit because she did write most of her newer songs and that does take talent.
Michelle seemed to fuel a new crowd of young musicians that not only sing but also write there own music. Norah Jones, Avril Lavigne and Vanessa Carlton all write or co-write their songs. This is something that is not done all that much anymore. Most bands have writers that will come up with songs for them to perform. Commercialization of the music industry, which is doing just fine no matter how much they complain about the internet hurting sales, has taken away some of the value of today's music. Thanks to Michelle and other artists like her, there is some truly meaningful and from the heart music out there. Thanks Meech!
The Spirit Room has sold several millions copies and Hotel Paper will surely do the same. With several supporting tours and the "Are You Happy Now?" tour, Michelle has gained many fans. Those fans have given her a couple number one videos on TRL and several hits on the Billboard charts also. I am sure that she has received more than she ever could have dreamed of. And it couldn't have happened to a better person.
