Play It Forward From The Beginning

Back in 2000 when Michelle Branch first got signed to Maverick Records, she was already brainstorming on how she could reach out to her fans. Yep, "Play It Forward" is the original brain child of Michelle Branch herself. Inspired by the movie "Pay It Forward", Michelle loved the idea of sharing something, like great music, with friends who then share it with their friends, and their friends, etc. Michelle's thought was to create this massive online movement. And so, Play It Forward was born.

In 2001 with the release of Michelle's first single "Everywhere" from her first studio record "The Spirit Room", Play It Forward officially began simply with an e-card. This e-card featured music from "The Spirit Room" as well as exclusives from Michelle Branch and chances to win lots of cool prizes including cash and backstage passes to meet Michelle herself.

Soon after the release of "Everywhere" and the rapid popularity of the original Play It Forward e-card, it was obvious to everyone that we had a star amidst us. And so Maverick and Michelle put their heads together to take Play It Forward to the next level and get even closer with the fans. That's when the Play It Forward Street Team was born.

The idea was to have a place where Michelle Branch fans could all come together, listen to music and support an artist in return for points and then those points could be redeemed for prizes. All Maverick and Michelle wanted to do was give prizes left and right to all these amazing fans that had supported Michelle since she was a local artist in Sedona, Arizona.

Since then, Michelle has been extremely involved with Play It Forward, making sure she keeps in close touch with her fans and giving back every chance she got. Through the team and the Official Michelle Branch Message Boards (the MBMB), Michelle was able to chat with the team and keep everyone updated with new news. Play It Forward has always strived to stray away from the traditional record label run street team giving it something unique. Unique, in that all its members stay in close touch with the artist, the street team leaders and each other. Being a part of the Play It Forward Street Team, you are welcomed into a community of fans and music lovers. The team has always had a mentality of coming together to support the artist we love.
